Paper Over Technology
A few days ago I’ve found an interesting link while I was browsing through Jarkko’s blog. It’s about a book. A very cute book actually, with the strange name - “Todoodlist. Technology is great. Pencils are better“.
As the price was decent - only $14 - I bought it and start reading. And I surprised for good.
First, the book is beautiful - very good print design, I like it. I’ve started my career as a graphical designer and I always consider design at first place.
The other think that I liked with this book was the idea. I have a very busy day-to-day life and organizing my tasks have been always an issue for me. I’ve been using a lot of personal/time management systems and even have created some by myself. So, as I started to read the book I was pleased to discover that the techniques and strategies are simple to use and powerful. They are fun, too.
In the book are included:
- 7 fun essays exploring our complex lives - I’d loved them.
- 5 awesome ideas to be more productive with paper. Includes the Todoodlist, a deliciously low-tech fun approach to keeping a to-do list. That’s the core of the system and it can liberate yourself from the PDA’s and stupid and huge smartphones.
- A simple 5-step system to reduce complexity in your life that you can put into practice today and get results straight away.
- A no-nonsense, indispensable blueprint for starting new projects to help you launch faster, hit your targets and achieve your dreams.
Actually I am still reading the book and I am going to apply the methods listed in it. Then I will be ready to post a fully-featured review about the book and its subject in action. At this point, at a first glance, I think the “Todoodlist” is a cute, fun and pretty focused on productivity e-book. I recommend it for reading and, please, have in mind that no affiliate links are involved here :-).
