Get in the Race! How to Be Faster Than Others!

Speed is power! If you move faster you will arrive sooner. When you are faster in what you are doing, you can do a lot more things than others who are slower than you. One of the key principles I use in my work to achieve greater productivity is to be quick.
I always try to perform all of my tasks as fast as I can and – at this moment – I can proudly say that I am like Speedy Gonzales. I move my mouse and click fast. I write on my keyboard fast. I even talk and walk faster than others. Why I am doing that?
Every day my tasks’ list contains 10 to 20 serious tasks. Every task takes time and I need to be really fast if I want to finish all of my tasks within a working day. I do not work at evenings, at nights or at weekends.
So, how can you get so fast that you wouldn’t need to work overtime?
Here are the key principles and methods I follow to achieve my remarkable speed:
1. Just Move Faster
It is not a rocket science. Think fast, move fast, do all the things faster than before. Be pro-active and do things.
2. Become an Expert
Every single professional I know is very fast in what he/she is doing best. See for example programmers and web designers. I am one of them and I know best how they work. Every one of my web designer friends writes his/hers code as a race car. They design fast, they click fast… I have a friend who works in a bank. He is using a specialized banking software and he knows it very well. So he is damn fast in sending millions of dollars back and forth.
3. Fill the Action-less Timeframes with Action
Don’t wait. Use the waiting time to do something else from your to-do list. If you need to sit somewhere and wait doing nothing this is one of the worst ways to spend your time. Choose one task from your to-do list you can do it while you wait and do it. You can read, make phone calls, even write emails.
4. Batch Tasks
In order to achieve the maximum speed you should do the similar tasks at a time. You have to focus yourself on a type of tasks and perform them in the given time period. For example it is better to check your e-mail and write messages in one hours of the day make the phone calls at other hours and define different time for meetings. Do not try to write mail, and then make a phone call while running for a meeting. Try to focus effort and batch tasks. The results will come immediately and you will get less stress after all.
